British Gas National Youth Championships

DAY 4 – Saw Rachel Byrne bounce back to form in the 19 years and over ladies 2oom backstroke producing an excellent 2:19.37  taking 5th spot.

Day 4 and another excellent performance to report with Rachel Byrne going to the final of the ladies 200m Backstroke in a time of 2:19.,52. Rachel took the first 100m out strong turning in 1:07, held her stroke rate on the 3rd 50m finishing with a 1:12 on the 2nd 100m,

Day 3 saw another great swim from Dominic Suggitt in the 17/18 years 200 individual medley finishing in a 2 second pb time of 2:10.48 putting him into tonight’s semi-final.

Day 2 of the championships saw two excellent performances from Wigan BEST members. 18 year-old Dominic Suggitt produced a life-time best of 2:07.82 taking a fantastic 4 seconds off his previous best, which put him in to tonight’s semi-final.

Rachel Byrne who recently returned to Wigan produced her personal best and in doing so made it 5th in to tonight’s 19 years and over final in the ladies 100m backstroke in a time of 1:05.76.

Grace Morley who qaulified for 5 events at these championships and competing in three of them started well just missing the semi-finals in each event producing times just on her life-time best.

Later in the week the swimmers will be joined by Jasmin Hamer who is competing in the ladies 100m & 200m breaststroke. This is Jasmin’s 7th Nationals, which means she has qualified for each Nationals since the age of 11 years.
