2 More Medals For BEST Swimmers At English Nationals

A fantastic performance in session 8 of the English Summer Nationals in Sheffield saw Jodie Gittins become the first BEST girl to break 59 seconds for several years when she snatched the bronze medal in the 17/18 year girls 100m freestyle finishing in an excellent 58.71.

In the same session saw Rachel Hornby continued her excellent results in this years Nationals finishing 8th in the 200m butterfly.

Monday 5th August saw 5 Wigan BEST swimmers compete in the Swim England Open Water National Championships at Thrybergh Country Park in Rotherham. In the 14 year boys 3k event saw an exciting finish with 6 swimmers all fighting for the medals, BEST swimmer Liam Carey stayed in contention all the way finishing strong to take an excellent bronze national medal finishing in 36 min 10 seconds. In the 19 years and over 5k Matthew Silvester fought hard to take a top 10 finish coming home in 8th place 1 hour 3 seconds.
