10th Future Stars Open Meet

Congratulations to all our swimmers who competed in the 10th Future Stars Open Meet producing some excellent performances with 48 Wigan BEST swimmers taking 118 medals of which 48 were gold, 46 silver and, 24 bronze which put the icing on a very successful Future Stars Open Meet.

With so many medals and super performances it is very difficult to single out swimmers but I think it may be fitting to highlight first our “FUTURE STARS” starting with our excellent 9 year olds with Poppy Johnson showing her talents taking gold in the 50 and 200 backstroke further gold’s came in the 50 and 200 Free with Bronze in the 200 IM. 9 year old Betsy Lloyd Showed came away with gold in the 50 breaststroke and came in 2nd in the 200 IM

Our 10 year-olds came away with 18 medals with Daniel Barton taking gold in the 50 fly and 100 back with silvers coming in the 200 IM and 100 Free. Two golds were taken by Gracie Smith in the 50 back and 200 IM with Olivia Knox taking a further 2 golds for the 10 year-olds in the 100 back and free. Ellen Jones came away with 4 excellent golds in the girls 50, 100 and 200 breast. and also 100 IM. Camilla Holland added to the medals for the 10 year olds with 2 silvers in the 50 back and 100 free and bronze in the 50 free event.

11 year olds were in the medals also with Jorja Howard finishing a busy weekend with silver in 50 fly 100 200 back 200 IM 50 and 200 free with an excellent gold in the 100 free. Anya Foxwell took gold in the 50 free and silver in the 100 event and 50 back. For the boys James Vaughan showed his talent adding 4 golds to the clubs tally taking top spot in the 100 and 200 IM 50 breast and 100 back finishing with silver in the 50 fly. Cole Hood and William Ashcroft both added bronze medals to our collection with Cole taking 3rd in the 100, 200 Back and William in the 50 Free with another bronze coming in the girls 200 free for Erin Waite.

For our 12 year-olds Eve Cutter produced some excellent swims taking gold in the 200 back 50 free and silvers 100 200 fly 50 200 free,50 back. further silvers were added in the 400 free and IM. Alice Holt her breaststroke talent taking gold 100 and 200 event with bronze in the 50. For the boys Matthew Sawers added gold in the 200 breaststroke with Nathan Healey taking silver. Alfie Owen had three excellent swims taking silvers in the 50 100 free and 100 breaststroke. Max Pearson took two bronze one in the 200 IM and the 50 fly. with brother Oliver taking bronze in the 100 back.

Isobelle Liptrot led the way for the 13 year-olds taking golds in girls 200 IM and freestyle she followed these up with superb golds in the 50 free and back and silver in the 100 free. A further gold came for 13 year-olds with Isabelle Lloyd coming home to touch first in the 100 fly and followed this with bronze in the 400 IM. Lucy Vaughan added bronze in the 200 fly. Silver came to Lillie Tipping in the 100 breaststroke and bronze in the 100 event and IM. Lucy Dursley added further bronze in the 400 Free along with Ruby Sheehan in the 100 For the boys Josh Hayes tooke silver in the 200 IM and 50 back.

More golds were added in the 14 and over girls with Lydia SWindell taking top spot in the 200 IM and the 100 free and silver in the 200 free. Eve Horton took gold in the 100 fly and bronze in the 400 IM.Chloe Ridge continued the success with gold in the 200 Breaststroke annd silver 400 IM Lelia Morris took 2silver in the ladies 100 200 B ack. Aimmee Crompton-Hesforth took the gold medal in the ladies 50 back and followed up with bronze in the 50 free. Gold cam,e again from Georgia Carroll in the 100 back Anna Healey took gold in the 100 IM silver in the 200 event. Olivia Jones took the bronze in the 50 breaststroke. Further silver medals came in the 200 fly and 100 fly for Amelia Picton and bronze in the 200 IM. an excellent silver for Francesca Brady in the 50 fly followed by 2 bronze in the 100 IM and back.

16 year-old Olivia Sheehan took bronze in the 800 free and 200 back. Golds still kept coming when Rachel Hornby brought home two in the 50 fly and 200 free. and Hannah Camden added to tally of gold winning the ladies 200 back.

For the boys Sam Griimes took silver in the 200 breaststroke. while Oliver Tinkler took a brilliant gold in the 100 free and then went on to take silver 50 free and bronze 100 IM. Brother Mat finished his weekend with gold in the 100 and 200 back. Mat Hayes snatched the 200 free gold with silver in the 100 fly. Charlie Collins added to the best collection with bronze in the 400 free.

Well done to everyone great weekend for the club made by the swimmers performance and super support from our committee and parents who volunteered throughout the weekend.
